Bespoke Taps is lucky enough to work with some stellar interior designers who turn our products into true masterpieces. Welcome to Insider Interviews, our summer series of chatting to design experts about their inspiration, unique style and why they choose Bespoke Taps.
This week, we sat down with Vickie Nickolls from Interior Therapy. She's won awards and been featured in some of our favourite interiors publications, channelling colourful, contemporary cool in her signature style.
Can you tell us about your journey as an interior designer so far?
So my journey has been fun. I originally started my business when I was on maternity leave with my first child. The business took off from there and I haven’t looked back! So many opportunities have come my way and I have worked with so many lovely clients, some of who I still work with years down the line…
I love how you can make such a change in the way your client lives and uses their home. It’s a very satisfying job for sure.
How would you describe your style?
This is hard as I feel it combines so many elements. I would say a modern mix of colour and patterns with a slight edge of traditional thrown in. It's important to create a design that is timeless and elegant so I always have this in mind when I’m designing a room. I love to add personality to my client's homes with colour pops, texture and art in a style that reflects the people that live there.
Where do you find your inspiration?
So I find inspiration everywhere to be honest. The usual places like Instagram and Pinterest for sure. It's great to be visiting trade shows again and seeing new products. I often come back with new brands to try.
Also travelling, shopping, fashion… you can find inspiration anywhere. It could be just a colour combination that you see and love that you then can incorporate into your designs.
How did you find out about Bespoke Taps originally?
I have a few friends that are also interior designers that had used Bespoke Taps in their projects so I took a look on Instagram and loved the products!
What do you like about specifying Bespoke Taps products?
The choice, firstly in finishes and also instyles. There’s something that would suit any project. And obviously the option to have anything made bespoke is great for when you need that certain something unique.
What advice would you give to those struggling to define their own interior style?
I would say think about what you actually love. What colours make you happy? There is so much inspiration out there but sometimes it can become too much and be overwhelming. Trend's come and go and so it's important to have what you like in your home, not what is currently trending on Instagram.
If you don’t mind us asking, what are you working on at the moment? Or anything exciting in the works?
I'm working on various projects currently, a few bathrooms with very different looks. Calming neutral family bathrooms and then bold and fun ensuites. There has also been a large influx of kids’ bedrooms recently which are so fun to do. I’m lucky with my job that each week can be totally different and you never know what projects will come your way!
